Spanish conquistadors destroyed the Inca society, many of its most precious cultural achievements and robbed the country of its riches both material (gold and silver reserves) as well as cultural all in the name of converting "uncivilized" nation to Christianity.... Today's day, the life of Inca Indians in Peru has little to do with their sterling and prosperous past. Even though they still constitute the majority of Peru, they've been assigned a secondary role in political, social and economical matters.
